APRA AMCOS Aotearoa - with the generous support of the British Council - are delighted to announce a special workshop with renowned artist Dr. Nitin Sawhney CBE.
Composer, musician, producer, cultural advocate, collaborator, patron – Sawhney has connected with audiences through many different mediums. He is returning to Aotearoa this year to perform at WOMAD, and we're lucky he's also coming to share his experiences, skills, and stories with APRA Aotearoa members at a limited space workshop.
Sawhney has created a successful three-decade career that spans scores for over 70 films, numerous television series, theatre, dance, games, 20 studio albums, and writing with a wide variety of artists including Paul McCartney, Sting, Brian Eno, Sinead O'Connor, Anoushka Shankar, and Jeff Beck.
The multi-instrumentalist has also: earned an Ivor Novello Lifetime Achievement Award; helmed his own long-running BBC Radio 2 show; made a name as a cultural and political commentator; been a patron for the PRS Foundation (the UK’s leading funding body for new music and talent development); as well as holding nine honorary doctorates.
At this workshop, he will delve into his screen composing work, discuss how you can craft a multi-layered music career rich in collaboration while maintaining a strong creative identity, and share some of his secrets in connecting the dots in this challenging industry.
Places are limited, please RSVP to secure a seat.
