We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Aaron Tokona over the weekend.
The 44 year old incredible frontman for Weta, AHoriBuzz, Cairo Knife Fight, stalwart of Fly My Pretties, died after a sudden heart attack on Saturday.
Aaron was widely known as an absolute guitar legend, musical genius, generous spirit, and dear friend to many whose inspiration and influence was widely felt and appreciated across our Aotearoa music whanau. Everyone has a wonderful story about him. APRA was honoured to have Aaron perform a stunning opening waiata at the Silver Scroll Awards in Wellington in 2014.
The outpouring of love for Aaron over the last two days has been testament to his wairua. His passing leaves a great gap in our community. Rest easy Aaron, and arohanui to your friends and family.
