Record Enable Hardship Award returns for 2023

Record Enable is an initiative created in 2022 to help women and non-binary people create sustainable careers as audio engineers and music producers in Aotearoa, New Zealand.



The Record Enable Hardship Award is open for self-identifying women who are studying audio engineering or music production in 2024 and may have financial barriers to completing their study. Two awards of $1000 are available. Applications are open from 17 July to 16 August via the New Horizons for Women Trust.

We welcome applications from women who meet the following criteria:

  • Are enrolled in an NZQA approved tertiary qualification
  • Are a citizen of New Zealand or hold a resident class visa and live in New Zealand
  • Are studying audio engineering and/or music production within any aspect of their study in 2024 at Certificate level (NZQA level (3-4) or Diploma level (NZQA level 5-6) or Degree Level, (NZQA levels 7 and above).
  • Are experiencing hardship in regard to their study.

When considering the application, emphasis will be placed on:

  • Academic record and potential to successfully complete your programme of study
  • Background information including reasons for returning to education, future study or employment goals
  • How the award will contribute to your success
