APRA AMCOS Aotearoa are thrilled to announce the Music Director of the 2024 APRA Silver Scroll Awards | Kaitito Kaiaka is multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, band leader, producer and recording engineer, Ben Lemi.
On October 8, at the 2024 APRA Silver Scroll Awards | Kaitito Kaiaka ceremony, Ben Lemi will be responsible for all performances and covers throughout the night, with their musical vision giving proceedings their distinctive spirit.
Lemi has spent the last two decades adding vibrancy and detail to countless Aotearoa acts across a broad range of genres. He can often be heard playing with Vera Ellen, TrinityRoots, French For Rabbits and Bret McKenzie while also creating music as Dawn Diver and working at Massey University’s School of Music and Creative Media Production in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.
Recently, Lemi joined Vera Ellen on stage to accept their 2024 Taite Music Prize for Ideal Home Noise, an album Lemi produced. A skilled and frequent musical collaborator, we are beyond excited to see Lemi's take on the music of the 2024 Silver Scroll finalists.
