Manu Tāiko is a transformative wānanga aimed at nurturing aspiring Māori music producers by providing them with immersive, hands-on training and mentorship.
This year's manu tāiko are Christian Tjandrawinata [pictured above, left], KINGS, Nic Manders, and Tiki Taane. They will be working with Diaz Grimm, Leonardo Coghini, Starcia O'Neill and Te KuraHuia [pictured above, right], alongside guest artists ARAHI, Hope, Kwest, RIIKI REID and mātanga reo Maumahara Horsfall.
The five-day wānanga includes both learning and practical application, guiding participants to create one waiata - start to finish. Developing production skills from mentorship with an experienced producer is paired with guest songwriters and a mātanga reo - developing pūkenga in writing and applying Te Ao Māori to mahi.
