Marlon Williams is excited to be on board, saying: “I love the kaupapa of Play It Strange, it's so important to support up and coming musicians in the industry. I can't wait to hear their songs."
Founder Mike Chunn is likewise excited to have Williams on board: "Marlon’s local and international success is inspiring to the next generation of kiwi songwriters and we are both looking forward to listening to all of the incredible entries.”
Williams brings a wealth of musical knowledge to the competition, which the winner will be able to experience firsthand via a one-on-one mentoring session as part of this year's prize. The winner will also receive a $500 Rockshop voucher and the opportunity to record their winning song at a professional recording studio.
Entries close for the National Year 9-11 Songwriting Competition at 5pm on May 24. Visit the Play It Strange website for more details.
