Australasian music rights management organisation, APRA AMCOS, today welcomes Alison Wright as new Divisional Head Membership. Alison has over 20 years’ experience in leadership roles across diverse industries, including the Arts sector. In her new role she will oversee the strategy, framework and roadmap for the membership division, to deliver best-in-class efficient and effective service to the organisation’s songwriter, composer and publisher membership.
Alison brings a wealth of expertise to this role. She joins APRA AMCOS from the National Health Cooperative, where she exercised considerable leadership experience in her capacity as CEO; and is no stranger to the Arts sector, having served as Assistant Director, Engagement and Development at the National Gallery of Australia (NGA). Her broad portfolio at the NGA included customer service, marketing, communications, philanthropy and corporate partnerships. Alison spent almost eight years in China, as Managing Partner at Red Bridge Communications, and Director Corporate Affairs, Asia Pacific for Visteon. She commenced her early career as a journalist with the ABC.
Alison is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors course, and a former Board Director of the ACT Domestic Violence Crisis Service.
“Alison’s strengths as a strategic thinker, relationship-builder, commercial manager, collaborator and communicator, position her to excel in leading our membership team to deliver world class service to our members. We’re thrilled to have her on board as a senior leader in our organisation,” said APRA AMCOS Chief Executive, Dean Ormston.
“I am delighted to be joining the APRA AMCOS team to support and service our membership who make, create and contribute to culture every single day. I hope to build on the exceptional work of the division and continue to shine a light on the power and importance of the music industry through our members,” said Alison Wright.
As Divisional Head Membership, Alison will hold responsibility for delivering and innovating a broad suite of services to the full breadth of APRA AMCOS’ global membership, including music publishing enterprise members, individual established songwriters and composers, and grassroots emerging songwriters across all genres. Alison will be a key member of the APRA AMCOS executive leadership team, partnering with that team to protect members’ repertoire and maximise royalty payments and to oversee the delivery of outreach initiatives that are broadly representative and inclusive.
